Newsletter October 2014

Hello Members,

The AGM of the Dungarvan Harbour Sailing Club was held on the 10^th of October 2014.

There was a good attendance of members at the meeting where Ms Joan Moloney had come to the end of her three year term as Commodore. Many thanks Joan for all your efforts over the three years and the club hopes you enjoy your future.

The newly elected committee held their first meeting on Thursday 23^rd of October 2014.

The names of the new committee are posted on the website.

The Commodore's and the Secretary's contact details are posted on the website for members information.

It was agreed by the committee that the DHSC Newsletter and all information regarding club activities will be posted on the website in future. Members will be notified by text of updates to the website. DHSC is now going digital, if you are not receiving notification of updates by text please contact the Secretary. This is as an effort to reduce the cost of postage to the club.

End of Season/ Christmas Party:

A party night with food, music and dance is being arranged for The 29^th of November. Tickets are limited at a cost of €10/head. Please contact Ms. Mary Power at 086 1524285 if you would like to confirm attendance.

Club Jackets:

Fleece lined jackets with the club logo can now be ordered. Please contact Ms. Niamh Power at 087 9472996 for more details. A sample jacket is available for viewing in the clubhouse.

Sailing sub-committee:

A sailing sub-committee has been formed. They are preparing a program of fun sailing and racing for both adult and junior sailors. This programme will be posted on the website when it is finalised and approved by the Committee

Pontoon:

Members are requested to keep their punts monitored and bailed if they are leaving them on the pontoon for the winter. Presently some punts are full of water and are going in under the sections of the pontoon with the possibility of damaging the pontoon floats.

Dinghy Park:

Boat owners are requested to remove all sails, rudders, centre boards and rigging from their boats, bring them home and store them in a dry area. Please leave your boat in a tidy state where it will not fill with rainwater over the winter and that the tyres are pumped with air to facilitate movement of trailers.

RIB Run:

It is proposed by the committee that a RIB Run will be organised over the Christmas holiday period. Please contact Mr Edwin Fay at 086 2503895 if you are interested in taking part.

Memberships:

Memberships are now due for the new season. Membership may be paid by cheque or electronically, please ensure you enter your name in the correct box so as to identify the member on the bank statement. The following is the clubs bank details if you wish to pay by electronic transfer,
