Lady Belle departing Dungarvan 9th June,2024.
Donal and I had a lovely 25nm sail to Ballycotton in lovely sunshine with plenty dolphins for company along the way.
We picked up one of the 6 visitors moorings which this year have pick up buoys attached.
Ashore, the cliff walk here is lovely.
Next morning we were off through the Sound between Ballycotton Island and Small Island and headed for the Old Head of Kinsale with Courtmacsherry in mind. The day was too good to stop and LB carried on to Castle Haven.
Distance 51nm.
Old Head of Kinsale.
Castle Haven has always been a favourite stopover with great holding for the anchor and a very picturesque and historic village .
Surprisingly, LB was the only sailing boat there by the village with the local moorings empty too. A few local boats were up beyond Cat Island.
The steep hill in the village is testing with Mary Anne’s an option half way up!
Reen Point beacon marking the entrance needs a paint and not very conspicuous at the moment.
