Junior Sailing

Roll on Summer 2024!

Our Junior Sailing School starts on 1st July this summer.

  • Participants need to be at least 9 years of age
  • Courses are Mornings or Afternoons from Monday – Friday
  • Mornings: 9am – 1pm  |  Afternoons: 2pm – 6pm

3 Courses in July and August 2024

Course I

1st – 12th July

Course II

15th – 26th July

Course III

29th July – 9th August

Course 3 participants will have 1 full day’s
sailing to make up for the loss of the Bank Holiday Monday on 5th
August

The cost of the two-week course is €385 for non-members and €285 for members

  • Course students should be dropped at the Lookout at 9 for the morning course and 2pm for the afternoon course.
  • Leave dry clothes and towel in the pick-up car for after the course.
  • All should be dressed on arrival in:
    • Non-slip shoes or wetsuit booties (old runners will do)
    • Wetsuit
    • Lifejacket / buoyancy aid
    • Cag (windproof top. Not essential but great for colder days)
    • A cap (for sunny days)
  • Wear sunscreen and bring a bottle of water and a small snack in a small bag.
  • All of our instructors are experienced sailors and qualified ISA instructors. A strict safety ratio of sailors to instructors is maintained at Dungarvan Harbour Sailing Club
  • If you are using your own boat or borrowing a boat, please ensure that it is insured and in good working order. Please, do a full check of your boat (sails, lines, trolley etc.) at least a week before the course starts. Mark/initial all removable parts with a permanent marker and ensure rudder and daggerboard are secured to the boat with line/cord.
  • Dungarvan Harbour Sailing Club sometimes uses photography / video for promotional purposes on our website and social media.  Please, select YES on the application form if you agree to the use of photography / video.
  • Irish Sailing maintains an online database of sailors’ progress. In order to use Sailing Passport, Irish Sailing requires participants’ first name, surname, date of birth and email address. If you consent to Dungarvan Harbour Sailing Club sharing this data, please select YES  on the application form.
  • By completing this form you agree that you and your child will abide by the Club’s Code of Conduct. Sailing, like all sports, carries a risk and by completing this form, the applicant acknowledges this.
  • On receipt of a completed application form we will contact you regarding payment. You may pay online through the dhsc.ie website once you have received approval for your place on the course applied for.
